And Where Now? is a multi-part video work developed from footage filmed along Ukraine’s eastern fronts while Dovbush was working as a fixer for international journalists in 2022–2023. Forming an accidental archive, the work approaches the landscape as a ruptured space where time overlaps and meaning destabilises. Through repetition, dislocated sound, and fractured editing, it searches for an alternative language—one that resists the flattening gaze of media narration and stays with the complexity of lived experience.
Svitlana Dovbush is a Ukrainian artist born and raised in Kyiv, now based in London. Working across moving image, sound, performance, and installation, she creates works that examine landscapes marked by war and the limits of representation. Her practice draws on media theory and explores the relationship between the body, the image, and the environment. She is graduating this year from the BA Fine Art program, 4D pathway, at Central Saint Martins.
