Moon Witual

  • The Batsford Gallery 268 Hackney Rd England, E2 7SJ United Kingdom (map)

There is a strange correlation between Major Lunar Standstills (a lunar cycle event and one that we have been in for the last 3 years), and Major Financial Crashes and World Wars. Moon Witual is a collective [w]itualistic space to think about the Moon’s relationship to our existential lives here on Earth. It is asking whether the Moon is more than a poetic mirror but an interactive force on our lives? Through references to descension (into the basement, sleeping, into the psyche) and ascension (capitalism, christianity), Moon Witual is a participatory artwork and installation with film and textile sculptural works that is the second edition of the artist’s project on Wituals beginning last summer 2025.

Witual is an experience with unobserved privacy with a set of witualistic instructions to follow. There are no intellectual, spiritual or existential conditions for entry except that you must bring an offering. For the Moon Witual it must be in the form of a piece of white cloth (a ribbon, piece of lace, scrap of t-shirt). White cloth pieces will be available to purchase at the door if you are unable to procure an offering to the moon.
