Cold War brings together six decades of work by the British artist Vaughan Grylls, whose practice has explored the landscapes, histories and everyday realities shaped by political division.

Since 1965, Grylls has travelled extensively through the territories and borders of the Cold War—from Moscow and Berlin to Vietnam, Korea and Romania—combining photography, panoramic image-making, found material and installation. His work moves beyond the language of military confrontation to consider how geopolitical tensions are absorbed into ordinary life: through crowds, streets, monuments, railway stations, television and domestic spaces.

The exhibition brings together key works including Red Square (1976), The Nuclear War Triptych (1981–82), Greenham Common (1983) and Red Square – Prophecy (1990), alongside recent works including Dictator Bed (2024), Cold War (2026) and DeeEmZee (2026).

At a moment when borders, nuclear anxiety and geopolitical division have once again become urgent realities, Grylls's work offers a compelling meditation on history, memory and the persistence of the Cold War's shadow.
