Sea Bunny is a messy, textile-based world of playful unease and surreal dreamscapes, where eerie wonder spills beyond the edges. In this body of work, Effi Summers moves between surrealism, abstraction and conceptual art, often blending these worlds together to create compositions that are bold, tactile and at times heavy.

Raw edges, mismatched layers, clashing patterns, asymmetry and vintage treasures define Sumners’ distinctive aesthetic, embracing the beauty of the clashing, the old and the worn. Every material used in the work has been rescued from the trash or sourced from flea markets, transforming discarded textiles and forgotten objects into something new.

The exhibition draws on Summer’s time in Brighton between 2008 and 2014, when she moved to the city for the first time and began to find her feet creatively. Each piece tells a different part of this experience, weaving together fragments of memory, place and creative discovery into a deeply personal and surreal visual world.
